You know our generation (possibly like others before it, but we all like to think we’re different) stopped aging as soon as we could legally drink. None of our birthdays count from now on until we can legally retire / become senior citizens. It’s video games and comic books for life!
Actually, it’s funny you posted this, because I was thinking along similar lines a few hours ago. There was some 90s thing on VH1 earlier, and Green Day and Nirvana were on there. Also, I watched the trailer for the new Darren Aronofsky film, The Wrestler, and the main character references how great Guns’n’Roses were, and how “that Cobain came along and screwed everything up. The 90s sucked.” And I realized that the 90s are the new 80s, in that it’s the trend for people to make fun of the previous decade.
Anyway, it made me feel old that people were referencing the 90s like they were so “10-years-ago” … especially when I realized, they WERE 10+ years ago.
I don’t think I necessarily feel old. I just miss the former pop culture, because really, the new one sucks.
it’s been almost TWENTY YEARS since I got the “Fascination Street” single and played it non stop for days in that little bedroom. TWENTY YEARS. (sob sob)
